Double row steel IMS bearing kit for Porsche 986 Boxster and 996 Carrera models.
This kit is designed for engines fitted with a double row IMS bearing. Before ordering, the existing bearing type must be confirmed, as Porsche used both single row and double row IMS bearings across these engine applications.
Suitable for the following models:
Porsche 986 Boxster 1997–2004
Porsche 996 Carrera 1997–2004
Kit includes:
• Patented DOF flange with anti-rust zinc plating
• IMS bearing
• 3 micro-encapsulated Porsche bolts
• Bearing spacer
• Engine oil port adapter with crush ring
• Cam plug
• 3,000psi hydraulic hose
• Hose fitting
• Thread locker
• Installation instructions
The direct oil feed system uses a custom intermediate shaft flange to supply oil directly to the IMS bearing. Oil is taken from a positive pressure feed on the cylinder head and routed through the hydraulic hose to the custom IMS flange, helping deliver a consistent flow of fresh oil to the open end of the bearing.
This setup is designed to improve IMS bearing lubrication and reduce the risk of lubrication-related bearing failure. It can be used as a preventative reliability upgrade with the existing bearing arrangement, or alongside a new SKF steel ball bearing for added peace of mind.
Please note: this kit is for double row IMS bearing applications only. Professional installation by a Porsche specialist is strongly recommended.
